E-Y14891 (AB-005) Project

 We are excited to announce the establishment of this surprise subclade by YFull! This SNP has united two existing subclades downstream E-A12313/A12255 together under a new level, not previously known in the phylogeny. These two subclades are E-A19388 and E-A20729/Y134153, and now the level E-FT120075 exists between them and E-A12313/A12255. Furthermore, a third line, E-FT120075*, exists on FTDNA.  Thanks to our upgraders from Big Y-500 to the Big Y-700 test, as it was the increased coverage of that test that uncovered this new level of the phylogeny.  It is a single-SNP subclade, defined by the SNP FT120075. That said, all members have the DYS385=17-17 value, so for now that value is phyloequivalent with FT120075.  This subclade is approximately 400 years old (600 - 175 ybp @ 95% confidence), being around a century younger than its parent E-A12313/A12255. This date corresponds perfectly with known historical population growth for Ashkenazi Jews in Central and Easter...

After a long while, we are finally able to announce the establishment of the subclade E-A22300 on YFull! This subclade is downstream E-Z36149, technically also downstream E-BY20365.  E-A22300 has been established on YFull by two Big Y testers, as well as a sample from PGP, an open-source scientific initiative. Many thanks to these individuals for their help! It is a three-SNP subclade, defined equally by having the SNPs A22300, A22301, and A22302.  This subclade is one of the youngest on YFull, with an estimated TMRCA of only 150 ybp (475 - 75 ybp @ 95% confidence). Considering there is a genealogy in the lineage traced to the early 18th century in Germany, the TMRCA has to be at least 300 ybp. Given the historical narrative, as well as multiple WAJ members of this subclade, we predict that the MRCA of this subclade lived somewhere in modern Germany, specifically the Rhineland.  E-A22300 is associated with group A00 in the project subgrouping here . Connected to our work on the E-Z36149 Geographic Census, we are happy to announce the establishment of two new subclades within E-Z36149, the first being E-BY142197. This subclade is technically downstream E-BY20365, although the phylogenetic importance of that SNP is not yet determined.  As always, we appreciate our subclade-defining members for helping us in this discovery, this time with two Big Y testers and one SNP tester. This may change when another Y-700 or WGS test is added to the subclade.  E-BY142197 looks to be the oldest known subclade of E-Z36149, with a TMRCA of c. 650 ybp, which is the same as its phylogenetic parent and grandparent. Hello, Continuing from the success of our E-Y17357 Geographic Census, the E-Y14891 (AB-005) Project is happy to announce the results of our E-Z36149 Geographic Census ! A survey was sent out to E-Z36149 members (confirmed or predicted) on FamilyTreeDNA asking for genealogical and geographic information for members’ most distant known ancestors (MDKA) on their paternal lines. We combined the results of that survey with member-submitted data already present on FTDNA to attempt to reconstruct the history and spread of E-Z36149.  E-Z36149 is an interesting subclade for a few reasons. 1) Its size. E-Z36149 makes up over a quarter (185/659 = 28%) of all E-Y14891 members on FTDNA! 2) Its age. E-Z36149 is only around c. 650 years old! (850-475 ybp at 95% confidence) 3) Its geographic spread. Hello all, Many thanks to all E-Y17357 members as well as the other admins in their help with this initiative. Last month we sent out a survey to all confirmed or predicted E-Y17357 members on FTDNA, asking for genealogical and geographical information on their paternal lines. Our goals included wanting to get a better sense of the geographic spread of the subclade, as well as trying to see if we could identify where the Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) lived based on the spread of his descendants.  As stated in the email sent to E-Y17357 members, this subclade makes up 16.5% (107/649) of the whole lineage on FTDNA, yet is only 450 years old according to YFull. This means the MRCA and his descendants were very reproductively successful in a relatively short amount of time, founding many surviving subclades. We are happy to announce the acceptance of a new subclade by YFull! The new subclade is E-FT34550, and it is downstream E-FT33868.  Many thanks to the two Big Y testers whose kits are now defining the new subclade for their patience and support of the project! It is a single SNP subclade, defined by the mutation FT34550. YFull's estimate for the Time to Most Recent Common Ancestor (TMRCA) of this subclade is only 50 years, based on the fact that neither kit has any novel SNPs. We have the benefit of having trees back into the late 1700s for these two lines, with genealogical no connection in sight. It's likely that FT34550 occurred sometime in the early to mid 1700s, with these two lines branching off before any genealogically pertinent information could be saved.  This subclade is associated with groups C01  in the Y-DNA results page  here , along with its siblings in the E-FT33868 subclade.  The geographic situation for this subclade is an interesting one. We are very excited to announce the recognition of new subclade by YFull! The subclade is called E-FT33868, and it is downstream E-Y17357. This subclade has been on FTDNA for sometime as E-A20849. However, because YFull did not accept A20849 or its phyloequivalent SNPs, the subclade was never added to YFull's haplotree. After multiple E-A20849 members upgraded to the Big Y-700, we discovered that there was another phyloequivalent SNP to the subclade: FT33868. This SNP was accepted by YFull and thus it is a single SNP subclade, defined only by FT33868. With a total of 5 kits, YFull's age estimate for the TMRCA of this subclade is approximately 425 years ago. This is a well-dated subclade and is only slightly younger than its parent E-Y17357. The five kits at E-Y17357~ on YFull are likely in E-FT33868 as well but do not have the Big Y-700 and thus do not have positive reads for the SNP.  This subclade is primarily associated with group C02  and C11  in the Y-DNA ...
